Format

The events will have a similar format to tournaments from previous years with the emphasis on friendly rivalry. There will be a variety of prizes for being a good sport, theme words, and participation. The top ten pairs from the East and West Qualifiers will advance to the City Championship on March 30th.
The winning team from our City Championship (Grades 5-8) will be awarded free admission to the
2016 North American School SCRABBLE® Championship on April 9th to 10th in Providence, RI.

Divisions are arranged by grades: 5-6, 7-8
Grade fours will play with other grade fours in the Junior tournaments.
Division structure is subject to change based on number of players.

The top 10 pairs from each region in grades 5-8 advance to the City Championship on March 30th.

Students and teachers should pack a lunch and snacks. Please note the lunch time in the schedule below. We recommend students bring a snack as well.

Prizes

The winning team in the City Championship from Grades 5-8 will receive free admission to the North American School SCRABBLE® Championship, which will take place April 9-10, 2016, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachussetts! Numerous other prizes will be awarded for sportsmanship, high plays and theme words, and participation.

Registration

To register, please download the registration form HERE. Right-click on the link and choose Save As. The registration deadline is February 29, 2016. The form explains how to submit your registration and entry fees (only $5 per student). Note: You can fill in the form electronically in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader via Edit PDF –> Fill & Sign.

In order to continue to grow the local competitive SCRABBLE® scene, members of the media are invited to visit the events. Therefore, all players must also present a completed Student Media Release Consent form. Copies of existing TDSB forms may be used or you may download a form HERE. This form can be submitted to us at info@schoolscrabble.ca or presented on the day of the tournament.
